Downtown Lakewood Pilot Program

Eight Lakewood property/business owners have joined together to underwrite the cost of a pilot program to add additional police presence to the Downtown Lakewood's commercial district this spring:

Detroit – Warren Bldg
The Coral Company
Rozi’s Wine House
Lakewood Public Library
INA/Bailey Buildings
Geiger’s Clothing & Sports
Phoenix Coffee

The program will be administered by LakewoodAlive. The funding will provide for additional police patrols in Downtown Lakewood at strategic times starting in mid-April and ending in mid-June.

The link below describes the benefits of having enhanced police presence in downtown commercial districts.

LakewoodAlive will be seeking feedback from downtown stakeholders throughout the pilot process to assess the effectiveness of the effort.

Congratulations and thank you to the leaders of these 8 establishments for stepping up to enhance the Downtown Lakewood experience:

Pilot Security Program

Several Downtown Lakewood property owners are working together with LakewoodAlive to launch a pilot program to enhance security in the commercial district this spring. The plan calls for hiring uniformed off-duty Lakewood Police officers to patrol the area at strategic times to establish a visible sense of enhanced security as weather improves and activity increases. The property owners recognize that a successful business district will attract a variety of visitors. The desire is to assure that Downtown Lakewood is a place where all feel welcome and safe.
